ISPORTS 2007 Boo Boo Sports Awards

RESULTS

The year 2007 was a dramatic year for the annual I95.5 FM Sports Boo Boo Awards, with an overwhelming participation from the public of Trinidad and Tobago and elsewhere, both on the internet and also from phone calls to the radio station.

In another very close contest, that became a heated five way battle between Calder Hart of Udecott (over the continual delay in the building of the Brian Lara Stadium at Tarouba), Richard Groden (Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation Secretary), defending Champion Oliver Camps (President of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation), Melchoir Taylor (Chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago Boxing Board) and Boxu Potts (Boxing promoter)

In a record 4,600 persons participation via all the forms of voting that ran from December 1^st to December 31^st, Boxu Potts won the overall Competition with 20% of the voting, with Richard Groden second on 18%, followed closely by Calder Hart on 17% and Melchoir Taylor and Oliver Camps joint fourth on 16%.

As a foot note – Motor Sports enthusiast and former TTASA official Bunny Persad won the majority of the internet voting ( via www.andrebaptiste.com)with 18% of the votes, but received no votes via the telephone lines or e-mail to the radio Station.

The Draw for the winners was made during the number one rated SPORTS TALK Show (every Thursday and Saturday from 6.15pm to 8pm on i95.5fm) in the country ISPORTS on Thursday 3^rd January , 2008, by an independent panel including Rhian Ramkissoon and Eustace De Freitas.

Two winners were eventually announced based on a random selection of all of the persons who selected –BOXU POTTS -.

On the night itself Boxu Potts spoke to Andre Errol Baptiste and said he did not expect to win, because he was successful in what he does. Quite obviously the people of Trinidad and Tobago thought the opposite.
